Born in Germany and raised in a small village by parents who were both teachers, Annette McCall developed a deep appreciation for learning and community from an early age. At 19, she immigrated to Canada alone, beginning her journey in Victoria as a nanny before pursuing higher education.

She studied chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Victoria before earning her medical degree at the University of British Columbia, followed by a family practice residency. Since 1991, Dr. McCall has dedicated her career to full-service family medicine, practicing in Nanaimo, North and West Vancouver, Whistler, and the Sunshine Coast.

Beyond clinical practice, she has actively contributed to healthcare system transformation. She played a role in the Family Practice Services Committee (FPSC) visioning process (2014–2015) and participated in initiatives such as GP for Me and the Division of Family Practice on the North Shore and Sunshine Coast. Her professional interests center on excellence in primary care, relationship-centered care, holistic health, and advancing the Quintuple Aim which helps to ensure the best outcomes for patients, practitioners, population health, responsible healthcare spending, and equity across diverse communities.

Outside of medicine, Dr. McCall finds joy in spending time with her adult sons, their partners, and friends. She nurtures her love for music, reading, gardening, and nature while embracing personal and spiritual growth. Deeply committed to community well-being, Annette strives to make a meaningful impact locally and globally.
